Satluj is based on the life of Shaheed Jaswant Singh Khalra, who fearlessly exposed the secret cremation of thousands of Sikhs during the 1980s and 1990s. The film is a powerful reminder of the Sikh commitment to truth, justice and standing against oppression.
The film itself became part of that story. Originally announced as Punjab 95, it remained delayed for years after extensive censorship demands. It was eventually released in its original, uncut form on ZEE5 under the title Satluj, but was removed from the platform in India within 48 hours. Diljit Dosanjh welcomed the fact that the film had reached the public and encouraged people to continue sharing it so that Shaheed Jaswant Singh Khalra's story could not be silenced.
Every Sikh should watch this important film, remember its message, and ensure that such chapters of Sikh history are never forgotten.
