Huddersfield Sikh Family Camp...

From Saturday 23rd October to Sunday 24th October, youngsters from Huddersfield organised it's first ever Sikh Family Camp event at Guru Nanak Gurdwara Huddersfield. Recently with Guru Sahib's kirpaa, local youth have come together and set up 'Huddersfield Sikh Youth' group which is trying to arrange events and programmes to inspire the local Sangat. Huddersfield has lacked Gurmat Parchaar for many years due to Gurdwara politics, in-fighting, and lack of Gurmat understanding in the general community. However, with the success of the first Sikh Family Camp in Huddersfield it is hopeful that the Sikh youth will be inspired to walk the Guru's Path and take responsibility of Sikhi Parchaar in its local area. The camp provided a good opportunity for elders, young adults, parents, teenagers and young children to take a step closer to Guru jee and strengthen their Sikhi spirit.

Morning assembly by Bhai Jagjit Singh (Wakefield). Bhai Sahib introduced the key words for the camp which were 'Seva', 'Simran', and 'Sangat'.

The under 4s group.

Children busy doing work.

The youngest group at the camp showing the colouring work they've been doing.

Spiritual zone with Bhenji Manjeet Kaur and Bhaji Manjeet Singh (Leeds).

Warrior zone with the 6 to 8 group. (The children had a lot of energy!)

Refreshments.

Children enjoying the bouncy castle in the Warrior Zone.

Bhai Jagjit Singh (Wakefield) in Open Zone, where children get the opportunity to ask any questions they have regarding Sikhi.

Did the organisors fail to see that the gurdwara sahib has a pub opposite which is owned by the gurdwara sahib?

Khalsa Ji, the intention of doing such a camp at such a Gurdwara is so that the local Sangat is awoken with knowledge, awareness and inspiration of Gurmat. When the local Sangat becomes more aware then the local Sangat themselves will bring positive change to the Gurdwara Sahib.

Waheguru ji Ka kahlsa, Waheguru ji Ki Fateh.

Our scriptures are in Gurmukhi. We speak mostly or wholly in english. I have never heard you so called 'khalsa' (born again christian attitude) speak Gurmukhi. Is this not the biggest 'sin' since you belive in 'sin,' that when your greatest document and perhaps the greatest document the world will ever know, is in Gurmukhi. Would your Guru be speaking english? Look how close you are to somebody standing up and saying, 'if we can have the same meaning in english then why not write a Guru Granth Sahib in english?' It is only a matter of time when ignorant people like yourselves are challenged and you will have no answer accept to nod. You are trying to create a form of christian sikhi for example women equality and 'keskees.' Can you provide evidence that women used to wear them as a matter of norm during the times of Guru Gobind Singh and after or was it a case only occasional nihung women wore them? If they did wear them as a matter of normalecy why did it disappear? - And why are you trying to introduce a form that has no relevance. Arrange your good selves with proof and evidence and belief and speak in Gurmukhi and let us have a vichaar. You so called 'khalsa' are the biggest 'ninda' doers of people who do not conform to your christian way of thinking. You merely scavange information and learn from others and then call it your own. You blot other singhs yet you take the information from them. With knowledge comes responsibility. You merely take the information and try to take it to the next step without bothering to think and understand and practice it first. You cannot even read Gurmukhi correctly. You cannot tell the difference between plural, singular, nouns, pronouns, compound words etc. Believe you me you are reading your paat incorrectly and if you continue on doing it who is going to correct you?- And don't give the answer 'Waheguru' this would be a christian answer, the Gurus maath is different it is one of doing not waiting for it to be done for you. Now if you are humble as you claim to be then you would post this and ask for a vichaar. Are you humble enough? - Or do you use the concept of 'ek chup so sukh' which is wide spread amongst you. When you put on your blog it has to be approved by your blog author, then are you not stopping and being selective in only wanting your lot to hear what you want to brain wash them with? Waheguru ji Ka khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh. Aapeh Singh.

You are false. You are not open to criticism and yet you consider yourselves to be humble. You are born again christians. Your concept is based on using the Gurbani to create your own sect. You can neither read Gurubani nor can you do it. Show and do mantr. How are you going to do mantr when you cannot even read it. Sadly, and with great respect this goes to your elders as well. Believe you me you cannot read Gurmukhi let alone speak it.

Dear Veer Jee,

Veer Jee, just to inform you that the blog is not updated daily but usually weekly or twice a week. It's updated when I have time. So that includes allowing comments. When the blog is updated, comments get added also.

Daas is a humble servant of the Guru, and doesn’t claim to perfect or a master of Gurmukhi and Gurbani. Daas is full of faults and continuously makes mistakes when reading Gurbani and hence does Ardaas every time “Akhar vaadhaa ghaataa bhul chuk maaf karnee jee”. Daas is not a scholar or gunne giaanee.

Daas belongs to one sect which is of the True Guru. “ham har sio dharraa keeaa meraa har tek. Mai har bin pakh dharraa avar na koee hau har gun gaavaa(n) asankh anek.” Daas would be happy if you could help Daas and the other Gursikhs who do seva at camps with avoiding making mistakes when speaking Gurmukhi or reading Gurbani as every Gursikh tries his or her best to avoid making mistakes within their abilities.

Veer Jee, Daas and other Gursikhs who do sevaa at the camps are happy to do veechar with you at the up coming Bradford Smaagam in December.

All the best.

Bhul Chuk Maaf.

Veer, Manvir Singh
