The first Amrit Sanchaar is on 12th April 2009, which will take place during the Wolverhampton Rainsbai Keertan (9pm sharp).

The second Amrit Sanchaar is on 14th April 2009 (Vaisakhi day), which will take place at 6pm sharp at Ramgarhia Gurdwara Coventry.

very interesting that you only advertise akj amrit sanchars and not others...

Manvir Singh (UK) said...

To Guru Pyaare who posted that I only "advertise akj amrit sanchaars"...

Amrit belongs to the Guru and not a group or individual. Yes, groups (Jathas) "organize" and do "sevaa" of Amrit Sanchaars.

Daas, has advertised Amrit Sanchaars arranged by other groups and Gurdwara Sahibs. Just do a search on the blog. The Amrit Sanchaars organized by the Damdami Taksaal in the UK have been advertised on the blog!

If Rehitvaan Gursikhs are doing sevaa in Panj Pyaare and doing the mahaan sevaa of doing Amrit Sanchaars, then what can be better than that!

Dhan Guru, Dhan Guru Ke Pyaare.

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh.

What's in a name....Veer ji, I have a question....

As we all know, the sikhi of guru Nanak Patshah has NO jaat or paat, ie. caste or lineage.

So I ask, how can a sikh of the one true guru be involved/take part in an amrit sanchar held at a guru ghar named after a jaat/caste.

Please refer to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ramgarhia for the definition of Ramgharia.

If I open a guru ghar tomorrow exclusively for 'Jatts' and call it 'Jatt Gurdwara Coventry' would you be willing to take part in an amrit sanchar held there?

Confused? I certainly am.

Gyan Singh Jee,

If you have any questions regarding why a Keertan Darbaar and Amrit Sanchaar was held at Ramgarhia Gurdwara then the best thing would be to contact Jathedar Bhai Raghbir Singh Jee - his telephone number is: 01926 740160.

I personally think that these caste based gurdwaras can only change if Gursikhs go to these places and do Parchaar!

When these communities start seeing and experiencing Sikhee, with Guru Sahib's kirpaa they can start to move in the right direction and with Guru Jee's Kirpaa they will one day change the name of the Gurdwara themselves! (not only would the gurdwara name change, but when someone is inspired by Guru Jee, their mindset and thinking changes as well).

From what I have heard Ramgarhia Gurdwara in Coventry has made some really positive steps this year with the new committee. Before they never had any Gurmat camps for children or Keertan Darbaars for youth. Now, with Guru Jee's kirpaa, there have been two youth Keertan Darbaars, a one-day Sikhi workshop seminar, a one-day Gurmat camp for children, and an Amrit Sanchaar (all in the past few months!). I think this is good progress, wouldn't you?

I heard the seminar talks on www.g5sikhmedia.com website. And they talks by "Gursikh" speakers condemned caste and even the name of the Gurdwara. How else will change come? Imagine if those Gursikhs boycotted the Gurdwara because of its name? Instead they used it as platform for Parchaar and spoke up about the issue of the name of the Gurdwara. Similarly, in the Gurmat Camp that daas has opportunity to attend, caste was condemned. When the wider Sangat becomes more knowledgeable they themselves will get up and make changes to the Gurdwara name.

That's my personal thoughts.
