Photos from the Leamington Gurmat Camp

I've been emailed photos from the Gurmat Camp that took place at Leamington & Warwick Gurdwara Sahib from 26th to 28th October 2007. It was Leamington's first ever weekend camp, which went very well with Waheguru's Kirpaa. All the sevadaars and local Sangat worked hard organising and running the camp, in particular Bhaajee Jaspal Singh, Bhaajee Bal Singh and Bhai Pardip Singh (Dhadi). May Waheguru keep them in Chardikalaa and bless them with more seva.

Here's some of the photos:

How do these kids cope with the whole turban-ban-school situation? Did they talk about it?

Manvir Singh (UK) said...

The children did talk about their problems at school and college.

Many of them said that society does not understand them and nor are they interested in knowing about other faiths or ethnic groups. The girls in France said they plan to tie dastaars and take Amrit after completing their studies to avoid problems with the dastaar. The turban ban applies to public schools. Those who go to private school and pay for their studies are able to get around the ban. However, one Amritdhari youth said that he has take a one hour bus journey just to go to a private school where he can wear a dastaar.

The children have great spirit, conviction and determination. An inspiration for all of us.
