For the past week or so I have been bit stressed because I had some work to complete for university and also it was my brother's wedding. Waheguru! So it was difficult juggling everything - from making Chaa and serving relatives Laddoos to reading books! I remembered that during my A-Levels and time at university in London I would listen to Sukhmani Sahib whilst revising. So I've been listening to Sukhmani Sahib read by Giani Thakur Singh jee on the computer.
WAHEGUROO! The peace and contentment that Sukhmani Sahib brings is amazing. So peaceful! I felt stressed before, but listening to Sukhmani Sahib I felt carefree. I felt nothing to worry about and my mind became relaxed. It's as if Guru Sahib embraces you and says, "Don't worry" and makes the mind feel collective, calm and more alert.
Giani Thakur Singh's voice and the way he reads Gurbaani is beautiful (very paced and smooth). I kept playing Sukhmani Sahib one after another. The way Giani jee reads Paath made me feel as if I was sitting in Guru Sahib's Darbaar in front of Satguru Sri Guru Granth Sahib jee with my eyes closed enjoying Guru Sahib's Darshan (presence/vision). It's hard to explain.
Strange feeling, but nice.
I know that during May and June a lot of students will be writing essays or revising for exams. I definitely recommend listening to Sukhmani Sahib during the day and get the feeling of "Sukh" (peace) in this busy and hectic life. :)

Giani Thakur Singh is a student of the Damdami Taksal, which was created by Guru Gobind Singh. Giani Thakur Singh came into the taksal at the time of Sant Kartar Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindrawala and learnt alot from him. He was very close to Sant Jarnail Singh and stayed in the jatha when Sant Jarnail Singh became jathedar of the taksal.
Giani Thakur Singh also spent alot of time and learning about Burmat from Sant Baba Harnam Singh Rampurkheran Vale.
What is Burmat?
Guru FAteh ji
How r u?I actually have been listening to it at night repeadedly as well and i love it.It gives such sweet thought and each line has such deep beautiful meaning it is as if Guru Arjun Dev Ji is with u that moment(HE IS !!!!!!) .It gives calm an collectiveness and it is beyond words. All Gurbani is.The one i listen too is by Prof.Satnam Singh but that doesnt matter Sukhmani Sahib is so sweet and Amazing :-)
Guru RAkha Ji
Thanks for the info dhadi master ji and for the pic manvir ji
yep yep Giani Thakur singh jatha bhinderan does great seva for com
I meant Gurmat, not burmat. was a typing error. sorry
soz to be off topic. is "dhadi master" an actual dhadi master who has had extensive training and studied the art of dhad sarangi and lecturing from an dhadi ustaad? coz this usually takes many many years.
akaal!
but doesn’t DDT change the way gurbani is pronounced?
If you listen to path at darbar sahib and then recordings of ddt you will hear the difference.
Guru Pyaari'o, most of the Granthi Sahibs employed at Sri Harmandar Sahib and other SGPC managed Gurdwara Sahibs, and also Jathedaars of the Takht Sahibs have been students from Damdami Taksaal since the times of Giani Baba Gurbachan Singh jee Bhindranwale.
Some Gursikhs don't pronounce Bindian (sounds added to the bottom of letter) and some do. One Gursikh summed things up as: Whether one pronounces a word with adding a bindi or not, the main thing is that the MEANING of Gurbaani shouldn't be changed through our pronunciation.
Doing vichaar with Gursikhs trained from Damdami Taksaal, the Granthi Singhs at Sri Darbaar Sahib, Takht Sahibs etc, although are Damdami Taksaal students, they pronounce bindian on words. He said Giani Baba Gurbachan Singh jee Bhindranwale said this is rule of pronunciation and grammar is fine for the Sri Darbaar Sahib Granthis.
I am no expert. Bhul chuk maaf.
Veerji there was another track of Sukhmani Sahib that you'd posted some time back and I just found it when someone else commented on it recently. I used to access that post from the 'recent comments' section on your blog, but there's been more comments so that one disappeared. I couldn't seem to find it after searching 'Sukhmani Sahib' on your blog.
Nothing wrong with this one, I was just used to that one, and it was all in one track. If you could please direct me to that track, that would be great. :)
Thanks.
