kaa-i-aa koomal, phul guN, naanak gupas maal.
With the fresh leaves of the body, and the flowers of virtue, Nanak has weaved his garland.

einee phulee rau kare, avar ke chuNee-ahi daal. ||1||
Waheguru is pleased with such garlands, so why pick any other flowers? ||1||

(Ang 791)

A certain man planted a rose and watered it faithfully and before it blossomed, he examined it.

He saw the bud that would soon blossom, but noticed thorns upon the stem and he thought, "How can any beautiful flower come from a plant burdened with so many sharp thorns? Saddened by this thought, he neglected to water the rose, and just before it was ready to bloom... it died.

So it is with many people. Within every soul there is a rose. The God-like qualities planted in us at birth, grow amid the thorns of our faults. Many of us look at ourselves and see only the thorns, the defects.

We despair, thinking that nothing good can possibly come from us. We neglect to water the good within us, and eventually it dies. We never realize our potential.

ehu man aarsee, ko-ee gurmukh vekhai.
This mind is a mirror; how rare are those who, as Gurmukh, see themselves in it.
(Ang 115)

Some people do not see the rose within themselves; someone else must show it to them. One of the greatest gifts a person can possess is to be able to reach past the thorns of another, and find the rose within them.
man tooN jot saroop hai aapnaa mool pachhaan.
O my mind, you are the embodiment of the Divine Light - recognize your own origin. (Ang 441)

This is one of the characteristic of love... to look at a person, know their true faults and accepting that person into your life... all the while recognizing the nobility in their soul. Help others to realize they can overcome their faults. If we show them the "rose" within themselves, they will conquer their thorns. Only then will they blossom many times over. Let us remember and cherish Waheguru. We have so many faults yet His love is beyond boundaries and and helps us to realise our mistakes so that we can make our stumbling blocks our building blocks.

fareedaa bhoom rangaavalee, manjh visoolaa baag.
Fareed, this world is beautiful, but there is a thorny garden within it.

jo nar peer nivaaji-aa, tinHaa anch na laag. ||1||
Those who are blessed by their spiritual teacher are not even scratched. ||1||
(Ang 966)

Truly amazing and inspiring. This is so right.A person can find the rose in them only with faith.God is in all ppl and things, only if one would look. The problem is that there are few ppl who do look.Ppl drown themselves in their own corruption and r 2 egoistic to humbly admit their mistakes their lack of perfection ,even to God,so they never fall at his feet or take his shelter. If only they knew how precious thew treasure inside their own body was. They chase after sucess and money but they dont find time for the one thing that will satisfy and fulfill them. The one thing that will always be with them they push away.My one prayer is that I may never ever fall out of love with God.As ppl grow they lose faith.I don,t ever wan't to.It is very easy for a person to give up just by seeing the thorns. One does have to wait for the flower. When it blooms it blooms beautifully.I wan't to really make it my lifes job to help ppl find the rose.Hardly any1 ever can understand. My family is always like where did u come from? Why do you pray so much? They say Praying wont get u good grades or make u lose weight or clean you room. They don't know how happy it makes me.I mean it is so weird a 6 yr old NY obssed with God.All I wan't and know is God.NO MATTER HOW WEIRD IT MAY SEEM. I have everything inside of me and so do they .They have just given up looking.I want to help make the world see the greatness of God one day.No one can evewr match the hapiness my Piaray Ram Jio gives me.

The full pauree translates as:
Translation: "A person’s mind is like a "looking-glass" – through which person can see their spiritual life, but only that person can see whom enters the Guru’s sanctuary. Without the Guru’s support the stain of ego remains on the glass. When one enters the Guru’s door then a person can see and analyse their life. The Unstruck Melody of the Bani resounds through the Pure Word of the Shabad (in the person who is at the Feet of the Guru); through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, they are absorbed into the True One. ||4||"

The Guru helps us to see our true selves by removing the stain of ego. Then when we reflect inwards and look inside we see the reflection of God in us, we see the Jyot, the soul.

Spirituality is a progressive journey. It has various stages. Please read Anand Sahib.

At the spiritually elevated stage, the Gurmukh see's the beauty of God in all and in everything. In Anand Sahib this is described as:
ਏਹੁ ਵਿਸੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਤੁਮ ਦੇਖਦੇ ਏਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਰੂਪੁ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਰੂਪੁ ਨਦਰੀ ਆਇਆ ॥
This whole world which you see is the image of the Lord; only the image of the Lord is seen.

The Gurmukh see the Jyot (light) of God in all and that is what he or she sees. They don't see the darkness or the shadow of people or things. They look at people and the world to be like beautiful roses and still appreciate people' inner-beauty and the light of God regardless of the thorns people have.

A gold may be covered in mud and muck. Yes its not nice to look at or rub against your clothes. However, it is still precious and still pricless. Washing away the dirt it shines. With Sangat, Naam, and Grace the dirt can be washed off the hearts of Manmukhs.

Whatever is seen, is Your form, O treasure of virtue, O Lord of the Universe, O Lord of incomparable beauty. Remembering, remembering, remembering the Lord in meditation, His humble servant becomes like Him. O Nanak! By Waheguru's Grace, we obtain Him. ||3||
