On Saturday 6th July, Veer Ravjeet Singh and Bhenji Daljit Kaur got married at Chapeltown Gurdwara in Leeds. I've known Veer jee since university and he has always been active in seva and had a drive to do something for the Panth. In 2005 he took Amrit and has done seva with various organisations such as British Organisation of Sikh Students (BOSS), Sweet Sikhi, Sikh Seva, United Sikhs, Sikh Organisation of Prisoner Welfare (SOPW), Khalsa Camp and others. In April 2008 the Panjabis in Britain All-Parliamentary Group gave Veer jee an award for Contribution to Community in Britain for organising events, talks, camps and London Sikhi month. May Guru jee continue to bless Veer jee and also Bhenji with Panthic seva in the future as well.
The Hukamnama before the Anand Kaaraj was:
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਚਰਨੀ ਲਾਇਆ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਹਾਈ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
ਜਹ ਜਾਈਐ ਤਹਾ ਸੁਹੇਲੇ ॥ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਮੇਲੇ ॥੧॥...
(Ang 623)One whom the Perfect Guru has attached to Vaheguru's feet - has obtained the Lord as their companion, their (spiritual) support, their best friend. (If one remains attached to Vaheguru's feet, then) wherever one goes, one is happy. By His Kind Mercy, God united me with Himself. ||1||...
The Hukamnama after the Anand Kaaraj was:
The One God is our father; we are the children of the One God. You are also our Guru. Listen, friends: my soul is a sacrifice, a sacrifice to You; O Lord, please reveal to me Your Blessed Vision. ||1||(Ang 611)

Vaheguru forgive me; but aren't Bhaji and Bhenji supposed to be sitting down when the Pattee Singh is reading the Laavan and stand up and walk when the Kirtani Singhs sing?? Vaheguru...
Vaheguru ji. The stage secretary explains beforehand the reasons for standing up at around 1 hr 51 minutes.
According to Sri Akal Takht Sahib Maryada, the boy and girl are supposed to stand when hearing the Laavaa(n) da Paatth. Just as one stands in front of the judge, one stands in front of the Guru. Similarly, when we go Pesh in front of Panj Pyaare we stand and present ourselves to the Guru-Roop Panj Pyaare and Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
This Maryada is overlooked by the majority of the Panth for whatever reasons.
Quote from Sikh Maryada:
"The boy and girl, after every circumambulation, should bow before the Guru Granth Sahib in genuflexion, lowering their forehead to touch the ground and then stand up to listen to the recitation of the next stanza. There being four matrimonial circumambulation stanzas in the concerned hymn, the proceeding will comprise four circumambulation with the incidental singing of the stanza. After the four circumabulation, the boy and girl should, after bowing before the Guru Granth Sahib, sit down at the appointed place and the Ragis or the person who has conducted the ceremony should recite the first five and the last stanza of the Anand Sahib. Thereafter, the Ardas should he offered to mark the conclusion of the Anand marriage ceremony and the Karhah Parshad, distributed'."
