Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana....

Bhai Balwant Singh Rajaona is currently Patiala Jail, serving a sentence for his involvement in the execution of then Chief Minister, Beant Sinh outside the Punjab secretariat in 1995. Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoanna was announced to be executed by hanging tat has been set for March 31st, 2012 for his alleged association with Shaheed Bhai Dilawar Singh Babbar and Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara who were responsible for bringing the ex-Punjab Chief Minister Beant Sinh to justice, on August 31st, 1995. Although his death sentence was capable of appeal, Bhai Rajoana instead willingly expressed his desire to be put to death instead of showing any faith in the widely acknowledged to be corrupt Indian justice system. Despite Bhai Sahib's willingness to embrace Shaheedi (martyrdom), it is everyone's duty to raise our voice against this injustice and save our fellow Sikh brother.

A humble request, please send this letter to your local MPs/MEPs to raise a voice against this injustice:

Dear [MP NAME]

RE: Urgent Action: India to hang Balwant Singh on 31 March 2012

I am writing to express my deep concern that it was confirmed on 13th March that India is preparing to break its moratorium on the death penalty by hanging Balwant Singh on 31st March at 9am in Central Jail, Patiala. Balwant Singh was a close friend of Dilawar Singh, a serving police officer in the Punjab Police who in 1995 killed the then Chief Minister of Punjab, Beant Singh, who was responsible for the mass genocide of the Sikhs in the 1980s and early 1990s.

In recent years Amnesty International has welcomed the lack of executions in India, with the last one taking place in 2004, but expressed its concern that at least 50 death sentences are passed each year by the Indian courts.

By making this announcement India is signalling to the world that when it comes to Sikh prisoners it is prepared to break the moratorium and reverse the trend to abolish the death penalty.

There is a real risk this may open the flood gates and allow India to execute the likes of Professor Davinderpal Singh Bhullar. His case has been highlighted by Amnesty International and raised with UK Parliamentarians on a number of occasions. He has now been in prison for over 17 years and been on death row in Tihar Central Prison, New Delhi for over nine years.

This most recent announcement also comes on the back of the pre-mature release last month of Kishori Lal, who was awarded the death penalty in the murder of three Sikhs with a chopper knife on 1st November 1984. Many in the Sikh community feel the Indian authorities are blatantly targeting Sikhs and many countries around the world may stay silent as they do not want to jeopardise trade with India.

I urge you to:
i) write to the Foreign Secretary to:
a) immediately raise with India the UK Government’s concern about the execution of Balwant Singh
planned for 31 March

b) use the UK presidency for the Council of Europe to get the other 46 Member States to exert pressure
on India regarding the need to abolish the death penalty without further delay
ii) contact Amnesty International to launch an urgent action appeal

Yours sincerely
[ADDRESS]

Why there should be No Appeal for Clemency?

It is disgusting for me to see news articles, where there are reports of Sikh Bodies, including the official parliament of Sikhs - SGPC, requesting Indian President to interfere in the capital sentence of Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana, and grant clemency to him.

But I have a very strong objection to the use of word – “Clemency”. Clemency means the forgiveness of a crime or the cancellation (in whole or in part) of the penalty associated with it.

Hence, by asking for Clemency, these bodies are agreeing to the inferred statement that what Balwant Singh did was indeed a crime, which is absolutely not right. Instead, we are failing the great legend, who has stuck to his ground for last 7 years, that what he did was absolutely right; because Beant Singh was a murderer, and no less evil than the likes of Kony and Gaddafi. Beant Singh was responsible for overseeing the mass killing of Sikhs and was responsible for giving police officers such as KPS Gill (known as ‘The Butcher of Punjab’), SSP Sumedh Saini, SSP Mohammad Izhar Alam (leader of the infamous Black Cats) and others a free reign to run operations that deliberately targeted the civilian population of Punjab.

The suicide operation conducted by Balwant Singh & Dilawar Singh put an end to a decade long period of State Organized killing of Sikh youths (almost 50,000 Sikhs were killed in fake ‘encounter’ killings, brutal torture, illegal detention, and mass rapes).

What is even more inspiring, and mark of personal integrity and spiritual strength is that he has never asked Indian Government for Justice. He had even refused to hire a lawyer, because he does not believe in Indian Judicial System. He has openly called for the death penalty recognising it as the only form of justice available to him under the Indian legal system.

And, is he irrational or wrong?
No, because the State that organises and sponsors Sikh genocides to teach Sikhs a lesson, and rewards the Sikh mass murderers (read Sajjan Kumar, Jagdish Tytler) who were the perpetrators of the 1984 genocide, with plum government posts and state protection has absolutely failed in its duties towards its citizens, and not worth asking justice for.

I guess the real traitor to country is this other Anonymous person..... Also, it shows a true hindutawa and their bankrupt state of mind.

Did it ever occur to you anytime that during any wars with other countries of the civil war withing, which community lost their lives the most. I guess it is not surprising for a person or community to hide behind police protection and make such claims.
Hidus separated themselves from the Sikhs a long time back and this post shows just that. No support never, ever regardless it is about Punjab they live in, or Punjabi they should all speak, or its waters they all drink.

Unbelievable amount of hindu courage on display here - by the same hindus who use to give their daughters and wives to invaders and beg Sikhs for thier help.

Unbelievable amout of courage by hindus who love to talk about religious and political matter of others - but need not to look into their own cast or creed for anything.

At the end, probably it never mattered to you what happened then and what can happen in future. A coward all the way.

    Hello,

I would like to ask one question, Will YOU support Kasab's hanging or not ?

  12. I personally believe that the death penalty should be abolished for all. During the 40 year Sikh Raaj of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, not a single person was given the death penatly.

WHAT EVER HAPPENED IN 1984 WAS WRONG AND I BEING AN INDIAN AND A COMMUNIST SINCERELY APOLOGIZE FOR THE GENOCIDE...BUT THE QUESTION IS WHY TO TEAR MOTHER INDIA APART.....COUNTRIES MADE ON THE BASIS OF RELIGION HAVE FALLEN..LOOK AT PAKISTAN...KOSOVO, WHAT HAPPENED WHEN YUGOSLAVIA BROKE, SEE WHAT IS HAPPENING IN POST SOVIET COUNTRIES... LOOK AT GROZNY, WAR BETWEEN ISAREL AND PALESTINE......

CREATION OF KHALISTAN WILL NOT SOLVE PROBLEM... IT WILL ONLY INCREASE THEM, FUNDAMENTALISTS WILL TAKE OVER.. THEY WILL DECIDE WHETHER YOUR CHILDREN AND DAUGHTERS SHOULD GO TO SCHOOL OR NOT.....DO NOT CREATE A SIKH TALIBAN....

INDIA WILL STAY UNITE...AT ANY COST....WHAT EVER IT MAY BE.....THERE WILL BE NO KHALISTAN...... BUT ENTIRE INDIAN SUBCONTINENT UNITED UNDER INDIAN LEADERSHIP...

LONG LIVE THE REVOLUTION....LONG LIVE MOTHER INDIA
